LinoLounge
is the result of quite a few sleepless
nights and a peak in coffee consumption
by Caroline De Cock, owner of the
consultancy firm N-square,
based in Brussels, creator of LobbyPlanet.eu
and lobbyist specialised in the ICT
sector.
The idea behind LinoLounge is not
to replicate one of the existing social
networks, but to create a tightly-knit
network that has one major point in
common: being active in the EU bubble.
The reason is that, being active
in the EU public affairs sector, Caroline
has often found herself thinking "Well,
that would be interesting to the car/logistics/[fill
in yourself] industry...but as a lobbyist
in Brussels, you usually know your
peers in your own sector but only
rarely those in a different sector.
From the "recruitment"
point of view, Caroline also felt
that headhunters often had difficulties
in spotting what "EU affairs"
people are when looking for profiles
on general social networks, and that
"boutique" consultants in
EU matters were often ignored by companies
for big brand names, just because
there is no obvious manner to advertise
your skills as a specialised consultant
in the EU bubble, except by word to
mouth publicity.
So the idea was to make a "LinkedIn
for EU affairs" meets "Bobex"/"Monster".
